We are The Building Centre of Excellence, based in Sheffield, working with some of the finest trades people in South Yorkshire to bring you the customer, the quality service you deserve.

The Idea

In July 2008, Steven Shaw Managing Director and Founder of The Building Centre of Excellence had the idea to set up a company that would help raise the standards in the building trade.  Being a highly qualified tradesmen himself, he noticed the standards dropping in the trade and realised there were more and more "cowboy builders" around who were undercutting him to do a low standard job.  The Building Centre of Excellence is working hard to wipe out the risk of "cowboy builders" by offering a free and unique service to the general public whilst also offering a fantastic business opportunity to the quality trades people of South Yorkshire.

Terms and Conditions

We, The Building Centre of Excellence, promote good building practice and all of its members have provided references of previous work undertaken. These references have been verified by us. We also request that members of the public who contract with our members provide feedback in respect of work undertaken along with a numerical grade which represents how satisfied they were with the work and conduct of the member.

However, our obligation is merely to provide members of the public with contact details of its members who work in the building trade. In the event that the member of public contracts with one of our members he/she must satisfy themselves that the member is able to undertake the work required.

We cannot guarantee the work of any of our members and if a member of the public contracts with one of our members they do so without the reliance on any representations, warranty or statement, whether written or oral, made by or on behalf of The Building Centre of Excellence.

We shall not be liable for any loss suffered as a result of a Member breaching or allegedly breaching their contract with a member of the public or for any loss suffered by the member of public as a result of any act or omission by a Member whatsoever. Nothing in this paragraph shall be deemed to exclude or limit The Building Centre of Excellence’s liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
